1st Annual Symposium on Payloads for Drones and Small Satellites 2024 (PADSAT'24) was held on our campus on 1-2 July 2024

Organized by the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, the “1st Annual Symposium on Payloads for Drones and Small Satellites 2024 (PADSAT'24)” was held on July 1-2, 2024, at our university’s Türkkuşu Campus. The aim of the symposium was to bring together academia and industry to discuss innovative solutions and developments in aerospace payloads. 

- Our Esteemed Participants -

The first day of the symposium started with the opening speech by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İlknur Tunç. Afterwards, Ali Baygeldi, the Head of Space Systems and Spacecraft Department at Turkish Space Agency provided information on space mission payloads and the National Space Program. Farid Gulmammadov from PLAN - S, Dr. Onur Tarakçıoğlu from TUSAŞ, Dr. Fahri Öztürk from TÜBİTAK UZAY, Asst. Prof. Dr. Özgür Selimoğlu from POLOPTECH, Ahmet Burak Koç from TÜRKSAT, Ergün Kocabıçak from ASELSAN, Dr. Mustafa İlarslan from AIRBUS and Cengiz Gündoğ from CTECH gave insights into their organization's work, products, capabilities, and vision related to mission payloads, while Aylin Edgü from FİGES explained the MATLAB capabilities that can be used for mission payloads.

On the second day of the symposium, to which approximately 70 people participated, researchers from various universities, research institutions, and industrial organizations presented a total of 14 papers. Researchers, including Prof. Dr. Bilge Demirköz from METU IVMER, Prof. Dr. Hatice Duran Yıldız from Ankara University Institute of Accelerator Technologies, Prof. Dr. Feza Arıkan from Hacettepe University IONOLAB and their working groups, presented papers in sessions on optical mission payloads, space physics, and sensors/RF. The full-text papers will be published shortly at www.padsat.org. The symposium concluded with the observation that the repeated occurrence of the symposium within an ever-growing framework will accelerate technological and scientific advancements in terms of mission payloads.
